First round of analysis cup produces a few shocks - Season 40 - Week 1

The big winners this weekend were Leicester. They won one nil but Spurs and arseholes slugged out a draw. Five points clear, the week that Leicester mathematically four place draws ever closer then they can relax and just win it. Man Utd showed how shite they are to everyone again.Villa ...well just carry on existing.
Beneteke was barged over, full body contact, he couldn't have kept his feet at all and the penalty won it!! Norwich and Newcastle look to be in big trouble. Sunderland look to be getting out of it.
The top spot in the championship changed hands yet again.Burnley the current holders.

In the leagues:
It was a good week I think some of us are learning that you pick a result then go for the opposite and thats what happens!! There were 28 wins and 27 losses. The first time for ages that wins have been higher then losses!!

The pick of the week is shared by some bloke called Tony Southworth & Matthew Gibbons who both did the above and picked West Brom to beat Man Utd @3.50.
Pele
Tony leads in first week with his best pick. GEEGEE is second with 'the Steph' @1.50. David Rosser announced his arrival back in the Pele with Liverpool away (just) @1.10, PATRICIA had a friday pick with Burnley @0.90, Robert Paton went north of the border for Hearts @0.73. Sohail Virdi starts the campagin to keep the 100% record for as long as possible with Man City @0.20.

Maradona
Matthew Gibbons leads with pick of the week @3.50, Steph cook picked out the north london derby draw @2.40. A good week for the Blackley household Chrissy Blackers picked out Cardiff away @2.20, Chris Blackley got Bournemouth away @1.80 and i went for Millwall @0.62. (wasn't enough to save me in the cup though!!) David Lloyd got 1.50 for 'the steph' (Leicester City to win for the newbies) Malcolm Gibson picked Liverpool and got lucky @1.10

Dalglish
Robert Kean leads here by 8p he picked Dundee Utd away @1.88, while Richard Shepherd got Bournemouth @1.80. WART didn't burst but picked Burnley for 0.90 Gareth Hedges was quite conservative this week with Man City @0.20

Shearer
Bad week here. Only two won! Zach got 80p for Tranmere at home and Patrizio got 17p for Napoli.
Bellisimo

Lineker
Alex Schams would have got pick of the week but for WBA's great display he got the 12 minute three goal blast of West Ham @3.33. Lee Denson went to spain and picked Atletico Madrid away @1.05, James Holland played safe with Man City @0.20.

Gascoigne
Great week here everybody won. Mono Guerillo went stereo and got two goals a piece with the Spurs/ Arsenal draw @2.40. Nigel Howlett went conference and got Torquay at home @1.20.
James Delahunt got Middlesboro on friday @0.62. John Chinedu started well with Man City @0.20 . solid John (got him through the cup)

Pineapple Lee
Only two winners here. James Glass made an immediate impact in the leagues proper with his taking up 'the steph' @1.50. The Binman cleaned up (do you see what i did there!!) with Wolfsburg at home to borussia munchin..n..nn.nn that team.

Ok no the cup a quick run down. If you didn't pick you're out, There were a few instances of two players both losing and last seasons final total came into play. One game where both players picked the same team but Gareth Hedges finished so well last season he went through. But on the whole it was the larger picker who won out. I lost to Robert Paton by 11p James Delahunt got pipped by 28p and poor Patrizio got 20p but his opponent Matty Gibbons got 3.50 the equivalent of a 7-1 drubbing.

The draw for round 2 of the Analysis Cup is thus:
ALEX SCHAMS V MONO GUERILLO
PETE CORNWELL V GEEGEE
DAVID ROSSER V SOHAIL VIRDI
MATTHEW GIBBONS V NIGEL HOWLETT
CHRISSY BLACKERS V THE BINMAN
CHRIS CANN V WART
PATRICIA V JAMES GLASS
STEPH COOK V GARETH HEDGES
TREVOR GIBBONS V TONY SOUTHWORTH

RICHARD PARKER V CHRIS BLACKLEY
