Get well Muamba - Week 2

Firstly our thoughts go out to Fabrice Muamba and his family, a truly shocking afternoon at ‘The Lane’ leaves us all thinking how unpredictable and fragile life can be.

I was going to try and be witty and clever in this analysis but in the circumstances I will just be to the point, league by league.

Pele league

Alan Blackley leads the way at present with a 2nd successful 2.1 pick this time Southend to overcome Hereford. Sohail Virdi moves into 2nd by picking the Reading win. Best pick of the league was Paul Shakespeare with his knowledge of The French league, Lyon away win at 2.75. Moving him up to third. A blank week for everyone else leaves only one other player in positive figures.

Maradona League

Matt Gibbons slipped up this week in the maradona league but remains top....just. But with 2nd highest pick of the Week (Everton’s FA Cup [email protected] 3.4) Dean Jones moves up into 2nd place. Of the rest only Craig Lowe and Nigel Howlett posted winning picks. Still all to play for.

Kenny Dalglish League

A last minute Collins header for West Ham means that Robert Paton leads the way He picked out the draw at 3.30. In 2nd place is Martyn Cornwell who picked safe with the comprehensive Man Utd win over Wolves. That’s 2 winning picks on the trot!! Didier Segovia was the only other winning picker in the league.

Alan Shearer League

Tim Lines was the only winning picker in the Shearer league with the impressive Torquay win over Now manager less Burton Albion. Phil Smith stays at minus 1 having picked the ill fated Spurs game. This league is prime target for someone to take control with a run of wins. Only one positive win in total So far.

Gary Lineker League

With only 3 people making picks this week the Lineker league was almost a dead rubber But Andy Ewart weighed in with his pick of a draw between Colchester & Huddersfield At 3.25 this proved to be the 4th best pick of the week. With Richard Inghams Stevenage pick failing It took Andy to the summit by 5 pence. Everyone else sits with minus 2.00.

Paul Gascoigne League

By contrast the Gazza league is a hive of activity. 7 out of 10 people picked, with 4 of those winning. The best by a way, in fact best pick of the week was David Rosser who recognised the ‘welsh Barca’ would thrash Fulham 3-0. He got 4.50 for his trouble and leads the way now. Al Smith (2nd), Darryn Cook & Mervyn Davies made up the rest of the winning quartet. It remains quite tight for the 2nd place spot behind Rosser.

Jason Pineapple Lee League

The Jason Lee league houses the overall leader at present, James Holland, who followed up last weeks Reading win with a 3.25 win for Hull over Palace. It puts him well clear in this league. In 2nd Steve Tester also had his 2nd win in a row but at more modest odds. Apart from these two everyone has drawn double blanks. Only 4 picked from this league this week.

Holdsworth League

I’m including the Holdsworth league mainly for the superb pick from Lester this week of Derby beating Donny at odds of 3.20. Placing him joint third in the overall league. Well done Lester.

Overall League Table

In the overall league James Holland from pineapple league is in front with 3.35 With David Rosser moving from 34th place last week to 2nd this week with 2.50. Special mention For Robert Paton who moved from 66th place to 7th with his pick of the last minute draw at Leeds.

Cheers
Al
